Sharing travel experiences with students is one of the best ways to practice English conversation. It allows students to learn English phrases and vocabulary about airports, hotels, restaurants and sightseeing in real life situations.
At Smith’s Katsura we really enjoy doing this practice. Traveling is also the best way to experience interesting food and foreign cuisine. Many students don’t have a chance to try food from countries far away, so when I go abroad I make sure to return with some special treats for everyone.
After visiting Prague Christmas Market with my family I’ve decided that it would be nice for students to enjoy some local food. I found a very good shop selling authentic products at the Prague airport and got many samples for the annual SSE Katsura New Year Party.
The party basically became a food tasting event. We had smoked bacon and different types of pork sausages. Deer salami and goose pate. Everyone’s favourite was a big loaf of smoked cheese. And we ate it all! It was also a good starting point for English conversations about food and local customs. We could also talk about different ways of celebrating Christmas in Europe. We had a great time together and the event was a success.

How nice of you to bring back that food from Prague for your students to enjoy!
They were very happy to be able to try all the delicious meat and cheese.
