The year 2010 means another fun year teaching English conversation （英会話） to my great students at my English conversation school （英会話スクール）, Smith’s School of English Tsukaguchi (スミス英会話 塚口校) , located in Tsukaguchi (塚口), Amagasaki City (尼崎市), Hyogo Prefecture (兵庫県), Japan. My school welcomed 2010 by holding a New Year event on January 23 at a Japanese restaurant called “YAMATO”, conveniently located in the same building as Smith’s School of English Tsukaguchi in Tsukaguchi. The new year event is always held at Yamato’s.
This year, 13 people attended the event, just like last year! As always, the food was delicious and offered a nice variety of tastes. I was happy to see some students making the effort to speak English to each other. Apparently students who were sitting on one side of the table talked about me and were uninimous in their praise of me! Wow! What nice students I have! A student’s wife (a guest) told me how her husband’s English communicative confidence was improving thanks to me and how her husband was enjoying studying English with me. I was happy to hear that. Hearing such things makes my job teaching English conversation (英会話) in Japan at Smith’s School of English Tsukaguchi (スミス英会話 塚口校) that much more worthwhile and rewarding. (^.^)
I brought my guitar to the event, playing and singing “Edelweiss”, a famous song from the movie classic “The Sound of Music” which is in English. I then had everybody sing it together. That’s right, everybody and it was great! I thank all for singing! Great job eveybody!
Thank you again to all those who attended this event and helped make it great! I will continue holding events to give students a chance to do English conversation (英会話) outside the classroom and have a great time!
