The English teachers working together at Smith’s School of English are some of the best you can find in Japan. I am proud to be a member of this incredible group of English teachers. Actually we call ourselves Coaches of Communicative Confidence a name we coined back in 1996 and we are a lot different from many English teachers in many ways. But for now let’s call us English teachers.
What does it take to be a great English teacher ? Here are just a few thoughts on why I know Smith’s School of English a great teachers.
- First and foremost the Smith’s English teacher cares for their students. This care is reflected in the length of time a student continues to study English at Smith’s. Smith’s is a monthly payment system which means students may quit at any time without any loss of money. And yet we know our students stay with us for many years.
- The teachers at Smith’s are great listeners. We know we must do our very best to provide a lesson atmosphere that supports student talking time. We all work hard to minimize teacher talking time.
- Adaptability is of the utmost importance to the English teachers at Smith’s School of English. We know every single student we teach is different and over the years we have trained ourselves to adapt to every student’s needs.
- Showing empathy with the challenge our students face is very important. Most of the teachers at Smith’s speak two or three languages and we all like to study Japanese. We have lived the challenge our students face and are well able to support them whenever they doubt their ability to learn. We build confidence in every student’s ability to reach their individual language goals.
I promise you when you study at Smith’s School of English you will find your English teacher will empathize with your challenge and will build your confidence to achieve, is adaptable to your needs, is a great listener which facilitates your student talking time, and finally and most importantly your English teacher cares about you.
