Last Sunday was really great weather in the Semboku(泉北) area of Sakai City(堺市). My wife and son decided to go for a walk to a park that I had heard about in my English conversation lessons at Smith’s School of English Nakamozu(スミス英会話 なかもず校). Many of my students live in the Semboku area, and have told me about a park close to Semboku Kosoku Line(泉北高速線) Izumigaoka Station(泉ヶ丘駅) that is full of beautiful plum and cherry trees. I enjoy exploring the areas around my English conversation Schools in Nakamozu (スミス英会話 なかもず校)and Sakai Higashi(スミス英会話 堺東校), Sakai city. It always provides interesting conversation topics in class.

We caught a train from Nakamozu Station(中百舌鳥駅) to Izumigaoka Station and walked for about half an hour to Kozen Koen(荒山公園). The sun was shining and it was an enjoyable walk.  At Kozen Koen’s  plum grove(荒山公園 梅林), there were many other families viewing the plum trees and enjoying the early spring weather. I think the plum trees were just past their full bloom point, however it was still a very beautiful sight. I took some nice pictures of the park I might put up for my students to see in my schools.

After seeing the beautiful plum trees, we walked back to Izumigaoka Station and ate lunch in a Japanese udon restaurant within the Takashimaya Department Store(高島屋) shopping complex. Needless to say that the food was delicious!!

I’m looking forward to the arrival of spring so I continue to explore the parks and other places of interest in my local areas in Sakai City.

    Hello Tim,
I love the depth of colour of plum blossoms such as you have captured here.
On Friday we had an unusually hot day in Tokyo and one of my students said that she noticed that some cheery trees had started to flower. I assume they have died of shock as it’s been cold and wet in Tokyo over the weekend with even snow being forecast for next week.
Have a lovely spring and a great time taking photographs.
