How Lucky I am to be living in Japan. A journey since 1983. Back and forth a few times from the USA, and finally settling into Japan in 1995. I like it. In fact, I love it.
Why? It is a great place for kids and my grandkids to grow up. The discipline and manners taught in school and at home are wonderful. The respect for others is evident in everyday life here. The children get that from the very beginning and turn out to be good people. I Love the education system in Japan. And so much more…

Living in Japan Teaches Me!
Owning an English school and helping people improve confidence in speaking English also gives me great satisfaction. All kinds of students come here- from very shy to very outgoing. They all get put into appropriate level classes based on their ability. Helping them along and watching them improve and level-up is a good feeling. I also find it amazing in how much I learn about Japan from my students. They teach me! I learn more about living in Japan from them every week!

The students do most of the talking, (Student Talking Time )and we teachers (coaches) guide them along the way. Helping someone go from a “beginner” to “better” is my pleasure. I love it, and love living in Japan.
All so true! Japan is a great place to live and we have a great job!
Good to hear that after all these years it is still working out for you, Jim. I’m here considerably shorter and feel the same way.
Indeed, thanks Derek.
I blame the US Army. Or the trombone. Or my mother for making me practice! Either way, no regrets! Thanks Tom
Indeed Derek, Thank you
