In an earlier post, “Why I Love Teaching English in Japan – Kind Students“, I wrote about the kindness of my students at my English conversation (英会話) school to in Tsukaguchi, Amagasaki, Smith’s School of English Tsukaguchi (スミス英会話塚口校). Let me give you another example showing just how kind Japanese people really are. On February 26, 2012, a day off from my job teaching English in Tsukaguchi, my Japanese wife, daughter I went to a crêpe shop in Tsukaguchi not from my English conversation school. This shop, called あんどれ, opened not so long ago, so we went to check it out and try the food there for teatime. We entered a cute, small, narrow shop which had a few tables and a counter with seats where people could eat. When we arrived, all tables were taken. To our surprise, when they saw us, the people who were sitting at the table closest to the door got up and moved to the counter to give us their table! I think they saw that we had a child and thought a table would be better for us. Wow! How nice! I was impressed by their kindness. My wife and I thanked them. We all sat down and enjoyed some nice crêpes. There were many kinds of crêpes to choose from. Mine had custard in it and some chocolate sauce on it. My wife and daughter’s had whipping cream and fruits inside. Delicious! We want to go to the shop again and try other kinds of crêpes. It’s great having a shop like this in Tsukaguchi where my family and I can go together. What a great place Tsukaguchi is. The people are so kind and I can eat enjoy delicious crêpes there too! (^.^)
