Cycling in Japan is a pleasure: Join me!

You are here: Home / Blog / Cycling in Japan is a pleasure: Join me!

Cycling Japan is a pleasure and ecologically sound. A couple of years ago I was thinking about taking up a hobby that I could do here in Japan. I hadn’t ridden a bike since I was a kid but noticed that here in Japan bikes are the way to get around.

Cycling in JapanPeople seem to enjoy cycling everywhere. Not being as strong as I was as a kid, I knew I’d best buy an electric bike. After looking at many shops and online I found a great electric bike on the crowdfunding website, INDIEGOGO and decided to support the campaign. My bike has six gears, disc brakes, shock absorbers, folds and has a carrying handle. It took about a year to get the bike but it was worth the wait!

Last September my bike finally arrived. I started cycling Japan by riding the bike around my town and was amazed at how much fun it is to ride a bike in Japan. Having the electric assist feature makes going up hills a breeze and I can travel over 70km on a single charge. Here in Japan I have noticed that they are putting in more bike lanes that allocate an area of the road specifically for bikes. Happy Cycling!

The electric bike is really something. I have seen people moving uphill quite easily. Nice article. Jim @ Hashimoto
