スミス英会話川西校 Lymington – My Old Home Town

You are here: Home / English School Articles / スミス英会話川西校 Lymington – My Old Home Town
Sea Scene - Needles, Isle of Wight

My wife, めぐみ, and I were lucky enough to spend our last 12 years in England, before moving to Japan, in the delightful small town of Lymington. I can think of few more fortunate towns to live in; with its beautiful coast to the south, giving views across the Solent to the Isle of Wight, and the New Forest National Park to the north. There was always something to do out of doors. In fine weather we would be out in our little boat. If it was hot enough dropping anchor off a beach and swimming ashore for lunch in a pub. Often spending the night on board in the shelter of Newtown Creek on the Isle of Wight. When the weather was not so good, or when we felt like firm land under our feet, we could choose to walk along the coast, or spend time in the wonderful New Forest National Park.

My words can’t describe the breathtaking beauty of this area, so I hope that my photos and the video links for Lymington and the New Forest show this more effectively.

Mute Swans Fighting - near Lymington

I have used the video on Lymington as a lesson at my English school, Smith’s School of English, Kawanishi スミス英会話川西校. I find this particular short movie very useful because it is well and clearly spoken, and features commonly used idiomatic phrases. My students are also very interested in my old home and my life there, so this video, in conjunction with the Google Maps view of the area regularly proves a great subject for a lesson, with many questions for them to ask.
