Would you like to listen to Gagaku(雅楽)? Come to my concert at the 8th of March!

You are here: Home / Blog / Would you like to listen to Gagaku(雅楽)? Come to my concert at the 8th of March!

Anybody who might be interested, please fell free to come to the concert, as it is free of charge.

The 25th Gagaku Renshusho concert (雅楽練習所発表会) will take place

  • on the 8th of March(3月8日)
  • Start at 6 o`clock (開演 6時)
  • Entrance from 5:30 (開場 5時30分)
  • at the Osaka International House (大阪国際交流センター大ホール) in Uehommachi (上本町) — on google.map

Like every year at the end of the Japanese school term, there will be a students concert (発表会) for the students in most schools. For the students of Gagaku 雅練成 at the Gagaku(雅楽) ensemble of the Shitennoji temple (四天王寺) in Osaka (大阪), we are looking forward to our concert every year. And after two years, I will be taking part in the concert, too.

I guess most English teachers have never heard of Gagaku, one traditional Japanese music which was especially popular in the Heian era about 1000 years ago. When I ask our English students, most have listened to the music once or twice in a temple or at a traditional wedding. Few have ever been to a concert. So this might be your chance for a new experience!

Everybody is welcome!
