Work/Life Balance in Japan

You are here: Home / Blog / Work/Life Balance in Japan

Hashimoto English Teacher TromboneThe trombone is what brought me to Japan so many years ago as a military musician. I left, and came back a few times, but finally decided to settle here in Sagamihara. Maintaining my passion was a struggle for many years because I was working full time and had no time to practice. My life was all about work. I had little choice but to give up the trombone and put work first.

Smith’s School of English Made My Life Better

Then I found Smith’s School of English. Making the change did nothing but improve my life. Not long after that I was able to adjust my working hours to coincide with my passion for music and time with my family. I joined a  wonderful organization called “The Zama Big Band Jazz Orchestra.” Playing with these musicians and socializing with the people of Japan has turned my life around. So many years ago I didn’t think it was possible to do again, especially in Japan. I was wrong. I have a good balance now between work, music, and family. Life is good here in Japan!
