So if you asked me what was great about owning and teaching at my own Smith’s School of English (Okamoto School) I would have to say that, having been at it for about 4 years, I treasure each day and each minute I have the opportunity to help my students to make progress to improve their English ability. They improve a little each day and we, as their teachers and coaches, are very lucky to have the chance to play an active role in their development.
I have many classes with 2 or 3 students but sometimes I have a private lesson or a class with one student, which gives me a chance to focus on a specific item or help them to work on something that they, themselves have recognized as an aspect on which they need special assistance.
Here is one of my students. She is making great progress. She has even helped me to make a TOEIC listening lesson video recently. By doing this I was able too focus on improving her intonation and phrasing. She has a bright future and I am happy to have played a small role in helping her on her way. I cannot think of a better job than this!

Smith’s provides a great opportunity for owner-teachers and students too. Of this I have no doubt; no doubt whatsoever! And here in Japan we get a chance to see some great cultural events. Outside my window (in the picture) you can see the Okamoto DANJIRI passing. This was taken the day on which they were practicing for the main event. Japan is certainly a great place to live and teach English!

She seems like a fantastic student. Being keen is the key to success, and she is definitely keen. Tell her I said “Good Luck”.

Thanks Edward. I will tell her. She is an example of why we choose to teach. She really wants to become great at English.
