Many of you might know that I’m a big fan of movies and TV. I love to sit back and relax in front of the TV for one or two hours a day. I have amassed such a collection that I struggle to find time to watch everything. Some DVDs just sit there for months before I get a chance to watch them. Others have never been opened. I have gotten more selective with my choices over the years but I am pretty much a lover of any genre as long as it’s a good movie. Recently I have been lucky enough to have watched 3 movies worth mentioning and worth taking the time to go and see. I also love to rate movies that way people can understand just how much I like, or dislike my selection.
Taken – (8.8/10) Simple plot, incredible action. I never knew Liam Neeson could be an action star, I always took him for a serious actor. Not to be missed if you’re a fan of the Jason Bourne Series (of which I thought the third, The Bourne Ultimatum, was the best)
Fireproof – (8.2/10) A lovely little love story. Makes you think about how much we really work in our own relationships with people that we care about.
Slumdog Millionaire – (9/10) I just watched this and was VERY impressed. Not what I expected at all. Thoroughly enjoyable and very well told as well as directed and acted. It deserves all the hype it’s been getting and is the first MUST SEE movie I’ve seen in a while. (this movie inspired me to write this article)
I’ll write up some other recommendations over the next few months as it looks like it’ll be a good year for movies. If any of you have seen these please let me know what you thought.
I love to talk about movies so if any of my students want to know about what movies are worth watching please ask me next time I see you 🙂

I recently saw the movie “Australia” which has been given poor publicity but which I enjoyed very much, in fact all the people I know who have seen it thought it was great.
I rarely trust movie critics as they have their own personal view and too often I have not liked the movies that they recommend (4.5 stars) and, more often than not, have loved the (2 and 3 star movies.
Haven’t watched Australia yet but I have it. I just haven’t gotten around to it. Will check it out.
Appreciate the info.
