Weekly Video Recommendation. This week’s video is a documentary about how sumo wrestlers put on and keep on fat, and the difference between sumo wrestler’s fat (sub-cutaneous fat) and average people’s fat (visceral fat). The video explains how this is done and why sumo fat is not as bad as visceral fat. This video contains some high level vocabulary, but the grammar is quite simple and the narrator and sumo coach both speak very clear English, so listening comprehension shouldn’t be a problem for most students.
These weekly video recommendations are intended as a listening resource for students of English as a second language (ESL). Regular study is the key to improving, and these weekly video recommendation posts are an essential part of a regular routine. Most students who improve consistently tend to do a variety of study activities, usually including in-class conversation, online reading and quizzing, video or CD listening activities as well as some form of writing routine.
