Hi this is Mark from Smith’s Kyobashi School. (スミス英会話 京橋) It was great to see John’s post about the Nishinomiya Boat Show and although I didn’t actually catch up with John on the day I am sure we were there at the same time. This boat show was scheduled to coincide with the last day of the Kansai Yacht Clubs Spring Regatta.
For those who know me well it will not surprise them to learn that I was a competitor in the KYC spring Regatta together with my boat ROXY (pictured) and her crew of 6 dedicated sailors. ROXY is a 33 feet “X Boat” built in Denmark as a racing cruiser. I picked he up in a sad state of disrepair back in August 2009. Whilst it is true my life is quite busy I have still managed to log 198 hours in 8 months sweating and shedding skin under, on and inside ROXY as I lovingly prepared her to race in the waters around Nishinomiya and Osaka Bay. Today ROXY is in peak condition and there is not too much cruiser left in the boat at all.. She is a racer and prepared to run head long into the wind as fast as we can sail her.
I am blessed with a great life. I am also very passionate about life and go just as hard as I can at everything I do. That’s just the way I am. I love life, I love my family, I love to teach and am proud of the franchise business we have all built together. In my spare time I love to sail. Life is good.
Mark Smith.

Hi Mark!
I remember you telling us franchisees at a Smith’s seminar to be excellent at whatever we do. I couldn’t agree more. You are excellent at the things that you do and set a great example for us Smith’s franchisees. You are an excellent leader for our system and I appreciate your teachings and support. Keep up the great work!
