The other night I ran into two of my students outside the elevator of Smith’s School of English on my way home. They were still chatting about the contents of the lesson and invited me to walk with them to the station. We took a route that was different than the one that I regularly take, which was an interesting change.
Along the way, they took a long detour into a nearby shopping mall. I’d heard that one of the ladies was a serious shopaholic but didn’t know to what extent until that night. Her friend had been telling me all kinds of stories about how they both liked to keep up with the latest fashion trends. We had barely been in the mall two minutes when the shopaholic headed straight for the nearest shoe store. It was really amusing to watch her eying the new line of boots with an eager smile. We had a great discussion about fashion, shoes, shopping, and credit cards before we eventually found the train station. They definitely made my walk to the train station a lot more entertaining than it usually is.
