One of the most amazing places to visit in Osaka is the Kaiyukan at Tempozan. I just love visiting Osaka Kaiyukan and try to go at least once a year. Although access is a little mysterious, the setting is great and there are other really awesome things to do in the area.
What To Expect Visiting Osaka Kaiyukan
Visiting Osaka Kaiyukan requires a full day of our attention. A large escalator first takes us up to the very top of the building. This area represents the Pacific Ocean surface at key ecosystems throughout the Pacific Rim. I immediately notice the dramatic Ring of Fire theme, a circular graphic of those various Pacific Ocean Ecosystems. Not surprisingly, English conversation students at my school love to discuss natural science topics. Generally speaking, the level of knowledge and empathy towards nature is amazing here. Then, walk slowly down until you get to the main tank, the facility’s magnum opus of engineering design. Here you can sit for hours and watch scuba divers interact with whale sharks.
How To Get There
As you know, tourists love visiting Japan, and they get to know the Mido-suji Subway Line quickly as the main transport artery through central Osaka. Take the Mido-suji from any station and head for Hommachi Station located in city center. At Hommachi, change into the Chuo Line, the green subway line westbound and get off at Tempozan Station. Another way there is over the JR Osaka Loop Line which makes a stop at Bentencho Station. This is out west, not far from the junction to Universal Studios. By the way, the Chuo Subway Line can easily be boarded here. From Tempozan, it is about a 750-meter walk to the aquarium, the Mall and additional things of interest. That might seem like a long way, but there are so many interesting little gift shops and eating and drinking places along the way. Thanks to that, I actually get side tracked!!
Enjoy and be safe,
