veni, vidi, vici

You are here: Home / Blog / veni, vidi, vici

“Veni, vidi, vici” (pronounced [ˈweːniː ˈwiːdiː ˈwiːkiː] in Classical Latin or [ˈveni ˈvidi ˈvitʃi] in Vulgar Latin) is a famous Latin sentence reportedly written by Julius Caesar in 47 BC.[1]

It translates as “I came, I saw, I conquered”

Yes, my friends I’m using a famous quote today, because I have big things to talk about. I mentioned in a previous soapbox article I have been on a diet mixed with some exercise for the last 11 weeks, and today I finally met my weight loss goal of 10 kilograms or 22 pounds. I’m very happy with the results, but to be honest there is more work to be done, and I am revising my goal lower by another 4 kilograms or 8 pounds. Usually dieting is a difficult task, but to be honest this diet has been pretty easy. I’m not sure why, but maybe I finally learned how to diet and eat right at the same time. Either way, I’m going to keep it up.

But wait!! There is even bigger news..

After all the dancing around like a little kid and begging my wife for an iPhone, well, I finally bought one. My wife and I went to the Softbank store to double-check on how much longer I still had on my originally cell phone contract, and the answer was about 4 months. However, I caught a lucky break, because just the day before the prices for the iPhones dropped slightly, and not only that they gave us 2 months free, so I will only have to pay for the 2 phones for 2 months. I was so excited. I wanted to start dancing around like a little kid again, but I’m sure the sales people at the Softbank store would have thought that I was a weirdo.

The iPhone is much more amazing than I had ever expected, but I will leave the explanation of all the cool things that it can do for my next article (( translation: I need to play with it more, so that I can figure out all the cool things that it can do. ))

Jerry
