Last year I made the decision that, although I had enjoyed my time as a Smith’s school owner professionally and financially, it was time to do something different. I found 2 teachers, one for each of my schools, that I could entrust the cumulation my six years in the Smith’s system, and returned to America for three months to pursue other business activities. During that time both teachers completed Smith’s training and ran the schools exactly as they were instructed without incident. After three months I returned back to Japan to check on my schools, give some support to the teachers, and tie up other loose ends. In July I returned to America on a permanent basis. Since I’ve been back my schools have continued to run smoothly and Mark Smith continues to keep in touch with me by email, always responding promptly if I have a question or concern. Last week I even received a care package from one of my former students who continues to study with her new teacher. Some of the best friends I made during my years in Japan were the students I taught at Smith’s. I am happy to see that they continue to enjoy studying at Smith’s and I look forward to hosting them in America someday.
