“So, anything exciting?” I asked my 4pm student as I walked her into the classroom in Kyobashi school.
“Well, I finally decided the departure date for New Zealand!” she beamed.
It’s not every day that students tell you exciting news like this, and she apparently wanted to share this with me, so we kept the conversation going for a while. It turned out that she had been thinking about taking a long trip overseas for a while, but she wasn’t confident with her English. After 2 years here at Smith’s School of English, she finally felt that she was ready for the challenge and booked a two-month homestay in New Zealand.
It is always a pleasure to have her in my class as she is really motivated and has a great personality. While we will really miss her here when she’s away, it is really nice to see how much we have been able to help her and how more confident she has become, and we sincerely wish her a great time in New Zealand!
