Recently I was taken and treated to a Tofuya Ukai in Saginuma by a few of my Azamino students from my Smith’s English Conversation School(スミス英会話 あざみ野校). At this restaurant everyone gets their own private room overlooking a beautiful Japanese style garden and you get served by waitresses wearing traditional style kimonos. As the name implies you get served a lot of different types of tofu which are all freshly made and are all very wonderful. The sake comes served in bamboo glasses and is very delicious. Also included in the meal was tempura, some fish, and some teriyaki style beef. You definitely get more than a enough food to make you full. Overall the whole experience lasted for about 3 hours and is a great way to spend an afternoon. This is certainly a place I will be going back to with my English Students. As for the price, it is definitely not for the budget minded (prices around 5000 yen/person) but it’s reasonable enough for a special occasion. So a big thanks to my English students who introduced me to this place. And for those who haven’t been their give it a try, the place is called Tofuya Ukai in Saginuma (とうふ屋うかい 鷺沼店), and it is only a few minutes walk from Saginuma Station (鷺沼駅)。
