ET: For me, (A) is enjoyable because (B).
This English class started off well as my student was eager to talk about her Obon holiday. I used last week’s one point (ET) to explain about my trip to Suma beach, ‘For me, going to the beach is enjoyable because I love the sun and sea.’ I finished up and asked my student if she could have a try, she did wonderfully. I was able to understand what she did for her Obon holiday.
Item: Past 2
First, we went through the flash cards to make sure we understood their meanings. Next I wrote up on board a short conversation and asked my student to read the sentence and mime her flash card. She was bit shy at first, but after a while we got into the game and it was fun to watch her performance and imagine what she was miming.
Routine: Routine – Japan Sea
As a review and level up study, we went through routine – Japan Sea. I started off writing up the L shape conversation onto the board and asked my student to copy. Next I read out the article indicating as I went a long and asked my student to repeat. She surprised me as she spoke out, from memory, the whole article without any problems. She was even able to fly through the stretching exercise.
One Point: If I (A) I would (B) because (C).
It was that time to finish off with the weeks One Point. I asked the student if she had checked the soapbox and already had a practice at home. She had not so I wrote the conversation up on the white board and asked my student to have an attempt. She seemed a bit confused, so I gave an example ‘If I get the opportunity to fly back to England this winter I would love to see my Brother and his family because they have just had a newborn baby’. She liked my example and was easily able to compose her own. She certainly passed all my tests to up a level and we both thoroughly enjoyed our lesson together.
