The move

After 8 years in its old location, a sunny second floor corner apartment 5 minutes’ walk away from the nearby JR station, I finally decided to move the school to a new premises. I had been very happy with the old location, with its convenient access to two stations and the bright, homely atmosphere, so why make the change?

Well the new place has some distinct advantages: the new place is larger, which allows for a more comfortable classroom and waiting area; it’s a detached house, rather than apartment, meaning it should be more visible on the street (attested to by the fact that the brochures placed outside have been rapidly disappearing!); the second floor has a huge balcony area, so that now we can host some of our warm weather events like barbeques on the premises; and perhaps the best thing for those students who make the trek by car from far-flung places such as Kameoka, Rakusai and Joyo city, is that we now have a parking space!

As for the location, it’s equally convenient as the old place  (5 minutes from JR Nagaokakyo and 8 minutes from Nagaoka Tenjin): in fact it is only 30 yards down the road! So we could make the move without disrupting the most important people in the whole moving equation, the students themselves.

    Tim,

I thought your old location was fantastic, so if you’ve moved to an even better location…. great! I can’t wait to come for a visit and see the new place. Maybe a joint BBQ on your new balcony with Smith’s School of English Ohtsu this summer?
