Hi, Tom from SSE Katsura here and today I’d like to briefly talk about SSE Curriculum which I have been using with joy for over 10 years.
When I think about Smith’s Curriculum, three words always come to mind: trusted, innovative and flexible.
TRUSTED: Our curriculum is not a textbook written by someone who has never lived in Japan. Actually, it’s not even a book. It is a vast set of versatile lessons and speaking activities that have been created by Smith’s team members with a long career coaching communicative confidence. It is designed to help learners gain and nurture their confidence in a supportive and engaging way. A trusted method built on our professional background of addressing specific needs of English language learners in Japan.

INNOVATIVE: In 2013 Smith’s curriculum went into a digital form to enhance the experience of English learning. Short video clips, photo library and interactive tasks (with visual & audio aid) are now easily accessible during our lessons. Variety of practice materials on the same subject improves learning curiosity and motivation. Lesson notes are taken in a designated time or can be sent to students in a digital form by an email. Notes review at home and with a teacher is an important part of the learning process.

FLEXIBILE: As we are not constrained by any traditional book format, it is easy to be flexible during our lessons. Slow down when necessary, review interesting parts or indeed expand on the English conversation with more resources. The possibilities are endless. Every lesson is conducted with student’s individual needs and abilities being the top priority. No pressure. Our lessons are designed not to overwhelm but rather to make the best use of student’s own potential. It’s not about speed but direction and quality of the English conversation lesson.
If you’d like to see it all in action, come see me and I’d be happy to show you the joy of using Smith’s curriculum.
Tom, SSE Katsura.
