Sometimes we forget how wonderful life really is. As we get older, we stop looking at the simple pleasures in life. But just when we are most busy in our sometimes seemingly senseless lives, we are presented with an image that brings us back to the realization that life is really pretty amazing. The young girl in this picture reminds me of that and how wonderful the process of discovering new things as a child is. As adults we need to think back sometimes to that time when we were small and how wonderful it was when we first saw an elephant or rode a train or played at the beach.
The reality is that every day you wake up you are presented with an opportunity to experience something new and do something amazing. For us owner-teachers of Smith’s Schools of English franchise schools, we are given so many opportunities to do something fun and, at the same time, helpful and educational with our students. Sometimes thinking back to how a child discovers and reacts to new things and experiences can help us to be better teachers and mentors. The process of learning a language is a process of discovery and growing awareness. I think if we urge our students to enjoy that process and embrace it as they learn, their success will be assured. Food for thought I think. Smith’s Schools of English presents an excellent opportunity for both teachers and students to share in the process of learning. We just need urge our students and help them to recapture the enthusiasm for learning they had as children and go with it, day by day, building up their ability to say things and describe things better and better.
As teachers we have to facilitate this natural process. The challenge to do this for your students is what makes teaching so awesome and rewarding. So the next time you are looking for inspiration, look into the eyes of a child. You won’t be disappointed.
