OK! Hello again everyone! Here is the August Festival Calendar I promised you July 12th.
August is a block-buster for events. There are more scheduled festivals than ever before, and more of them are on weekends. Crowds will be that much bigger, too as a result! Naturally!
Sunday August 1st – PL in Tondabayashi 100,000 rockets, the second biggest show in Japan and the biggest crowd in Kansai. Good luck! Sunday August 1st also gives us Maizuru Tourounagashi with 5,000 rockets and for those of you in Kyoto-Shiga you might see Hikone 6,000 rockets.
Thursday August 5th – Nagahama 10,000 rockets – a very nice show with limited crowds and The Nara Tokae Candle Festival starts, too.
Friday August 6th – Biwako Otsu, also 10,000 rockets, great setting! Takarazuka is split into two nights, tonight and the 7th.
Saturday August 7th – Kameoka 5,000 and Yodogawa 20,000, the second most popular show in Kansai. Expect 500,000 + humanoids to attend! Kobe Minato Taikai is our favorite event and we attend every year.
Tuesday August 10th – Uji 7,000. A full-on crowd in this otherwise lovely, lovely setting.
Saturday August 14th – Nara Tokae climax and Nantan 8,000 rockets, open sky and no crowd!
Sunday August 15th – Fukuchiyama 6,000 rockets. Yoko + I love this place and always spend the night so we can get plastered. Yoshino has 4,000, too.
Monday August 16th – Miyazu Tourounagashi + Kyoto’s interesting Daimonji Fire Festival. See if you can get up the mountain near the fire ! Cool !
Saturday August 21st – Inagawa 6,500 rockets, big surprise, and finally :
Saturday August 28th – Itami, just in case you’re in denial about the date!
