Finally, I am beginning to see for myself that what you all keep telling me is true; that if I just keep at it, they will come. Today, (notice, this is October SIX), my first student joined. About an hour later, my second student joined. Without a prior appointment, my second trial lesson occurred as a walk-in. A young man walked in with a flyer in his hand, which he said he got from me, at the station, and he wanted to take a trial lesson. I called the head office and they were able to confirm that I could run the trial right then and there.
So… those flyers DO work! That gives a boost of pep to my intent.
Thanks to those who have encouraged me through this Soapbox, the telephone, fax, and even personal letters in the mail. With these contacts, especially right here in the beginning when signs of life are hard to detect, I have been able to feel that, although my Smith’s School of English is the only one here in Yamanashi, I myself am not hanging out here all alone with no support system. I think this whole system is really, really great, and I’m beginning to realize for myself: this is FUN!
