something new every day

You are here: Home / Blog / something new every day

November this year marks the 10th anniversary of me working at Smith’s 英会話 Hirakata. It’s hard to believe how fast time has flown and how much things have changed during these past 10 years and how much I’ve changed. Today, though I turned 36 in June, I actually feel younger than I have in years. I’ve been blessed to work with some fabulous teachers and been able to teach some incredible students. Each time a new student comes through our doors I’m eager to see just how I can put all my knowledge to use in order to help them achieve their hopes and dreams. Each student presents a slightly different challenge based on their ability, character, background and dedication which is all part of the fun.

Not only have I grown as a teacher but as a person; getting married 6 years ago with our son joining our family in 2008. I learnt magic, studied photography and had the opportunity to try lots of new things. Each year brings with it a new challenge and 2010 was no different. I’ve been busy with both work and family but they both help keep me young and active.

Today I added to my accomplishments – escape artist. After my first lesson I walked downstairs with my students only to find the door stuck. A screw had come loose and was preventing the door from opening. Another tenant called the landlord in hopes he could get it open. In the meantime I decided to climb down the fire escape from my veranda, and armed with my screwdrivers I was somehow able to get the door open. The landlord thanked me for fixing it and my students were able to leave after only a 10-minute delay. Not quite what I imagined when I woke up this morning let me tell you.

You just never know what’s going to happen.

Adrian
