The last 2013 event for my Tsukaguchi and Kawanishi English conversation schools was a birthday and Christmas party at my home in Tsukaguchi, Amagasaki. Birthday and Christmas? Why the mix, you may wonder? Well, I thought Sunday, December 22nd would be a good day to hold my annual Smith’s Christmas party, Sunday being a holiday for many and it being close to Christmas. My birthday happened to be on that day, so I decided to make it both a birthday and Christmas party! I had never held a party in my home in Tsukaguchi. I thought students would enjoy that. I decided a potluck would be good and that I would get a big cake at COSTCO in Amagasaki to share with everybody. It would be dessert and my birthday cake too! Nice!
On the day of the event, some Smith’s School of English Tsukaguchi students kindly drove me to COSTCO where I picked up the huge cake I’d ordered. We bought some pizza in the food court there too to share with everybody at the party.
The party went well. Twenty people attended! We had a Christmas tree and played some Christmas background music. There was a variety of tasty dishes to choose from. When the time was right, I brought in the cake, put candles on it and lit them. People kindly sang the happy birthday song to me. I made a wish and blew out the candles. Then I cut and served pieces of cake to everybody. People served themselves to Starbucks drip coffee and tea my wife and I had prepared. We had a great time! I hope to hold a Smith’s party at a new home of mine in Tsukaguchi this year! (^.^)
