As an English teacher teaching English in Japan, it is always wonderful to hear students say that they used their English outside the classroom. Last week, a student of mine at Smith’s School of English Tsukaguchi told me that he had gone to a restaurant while on a business trip in Japan. He was the only customer in the restaurant at the time. Then some foreigners came into the restaurant to eat. They couldn’t speak Japanese and the restaurant’s owner couldn’t speak English, so my student kindly acted as a translator between the two. Thanks to him, the two parties were able to communicate. Well done, Noriaki! Keep up the great work! (^.^)

What a star! It’s great when students get these types of opportunities, and fantastic when they capitalize upon them. Great job by your student to help others AND practice his English. Win-win.
