Having been fortunate enough to meet and teach many students at the Smith’s School of English in Kobe-Okamoto for many years now, I decided it was time to reward at least one of them for his/her long and continued effort to master English at my school. This was a local event held only for my students at the Okamoto school. I held a drawing this past Saturday to give away one Amazon Kindle Fire HD tablet PC. It’s a great Android tablet which compares quite well to the iPad Mini for a very reasonable price.
In this drawing the same number of balls as active students were put into a bingo ball spinner with one ball marked with the winning number. Each student took a turn to spin out one ball and the first one to spin out the winning ball was declared the winner of the tablet. Miho, my student for the past 2.5 years was the lucky winner this time. Her lucky draw was witnessed by Aya and Yoshihiko in the 6:00 p.m. lesson. It was very exciting!
It certainly feels good to reward a student for long and continued effort to master English. Congratulations to Miho!
Perhaps the best part of belonging to the Smith’s School of English system is the the flexibility we have as individual school owners to do something individually and special such as this “Student Appreciation Award” for our students. And the smile on Miho’s face… Well that was really priceless!
It is great to be a part of Okamoto where my school is located and where most of my students live or work. I want to thank all of the over 300 wonderful students who have studied at Smith’s Okamoto since 2004!
