Smith’s School of English Miyakojima – Wine Party 2023

Happy autumn to everyone!

Smith’s School of English Miyakojima loves to hold events where students can gather to eat, drink and socialize with each other. Every year we hold a BBQ party in the autumn, and also a big Christmas party in December.
I am always trying to introduce my students to foreign culture that they have never experienced before. So, this year, for the first time, we held a wine and appetizer party in the Smith’s School of English Miyakojima classroom and lounge on Sunday, July 9^th, 2023.
This type of event is very common in my home country of Canada, but for most of my students, this was the first time they had experienced a wine and appetizer party.

PARTY CONCEPT

Our annual school Christmas party is based on the “pot-luck” party style. For “pot-luck”, everyone brings a dish or drink, the host makes some dishes, and everyone shares the food and drinks.

For this wine and appetizer party, I made most of the dishes and my students brought either a bottle of red wine, white wine or sparkling wine.

As you can see in the photos, the party was a wonderful afternoon of eating, drinking, and socializing. All of the students who attended said that they had a wonderful and fun experience. It was very satisfying for me to introduce the wine and appetizer party style to my students.
Watching my students talk, laugh, eat and drink together always makes me very happy. I feel very lucky to have such wonderful students!
I would like to say thank you to all of my students who attended and brought drinks, and to Ms. Hara for bringing the cheese gyoza and the crackers and cheese dip.

Our next big event is the Smith’s School of English Miyakojima annual Christmas party, which will be held in December. I am very much looking forward to that event and I am already thinking about the menu for that party!
