Guess what today is!! Yes, it’s Valentine’s Day! And as usual I totally scored big from students at my Smith’s School of English Franchise in Kotoen. I just love the custom here in which the women buy chocolate for the men, and they don’t just buy anything! They have to get the most exotic stuff you can imagine, the best from France and Switzerland and Germany and yes, Belgium, too!
The three Starbucks locations in my neighborhood also had a really nice atmosphere and were giving out samples of coffee and little bits of chocolate for all those cute couples who managed to come in for a drink yesterday. Naturally I took my wife to avoid any chance of her getting jealous from all the wonderful presents I’ve received in the past week, presents from the wonderful students at Smith’s Kotoen.
Next year I’m going to have a full-on chocolate lesson to accompany the very popular Wine Tasting Course at the Kotoen school. I’m sure it will be a hit, especially with the senior ladies who live in the area. This will also take the pressure of people who are thinking the Valentine’s custom has gotten a bit troublesome and that, on very unlucky occasions, people have had the tendency to get the wrong idea about the meaning of the gift! Well, luckily that hasn’t happened to me at all but it has to my poor wife on more than one occasion in her office!
