One thing that I really like about Japan is that people do not steal much here compared to some other places in the world. For example, when people go to a shop in Tsukaguchi (Amagasaki) or Kawanishi where they need to order at a counter, many people first find a place to sit, leave a personal item on the table then go and order. Others who see the table with something on it understand that it’s taken and don’t sit there. The fact that people leave anything on tables unattended shows they don’t worry about having them stolen. This is very interesting and definitely something special about Japan. In some other countries, leaving things unattended is very risky.
Now I do the same thing. Just today I went to Starbucks in Kawanishi, about 10 minutes from Smith’s School of English Kawanishi by bicycle. Before ordering, I found a good place to sit and left my hat and some bags at the table. It’s great living in a country where I can do that. Japan is great!
