Promoting Smith’s Soapbox

You are here: Home / English School Articles / Promoting Smith’s Soapbox

We know how busy Smith’s English School students are with their jobs and studies and sometimes it takes a little special effort to motivate and encourage our students to do homework and take advantage of the extras we provide on Smith’s English School Soapbox. We don’t have internet in our Karasuma/Shijo Smith’s English School classroom so I stretched my cables and set up my monitor on a chair so my students could see it through the classroom sliding doors. I explained to them all the great stuff Smith’s and you guys have been putting on Smith’s English School Soapbox website recently like the OP and ET teaching videos and the TOEFL videos with the peppy upbeat music. I played the Toyota Recall TOEFL video and quizzed them myself. I divided the questions to give the more advanced student the most challenging ones and they tied 2/2. I told them that I strongly encouraged them to look at the site and play some of the videos. It would be fun and it would help their English. Keep up the good work guys. We appreciate you as well as all our students. Gordon Tppett Karasuma/Shijo Smith’s English School

    Gordon,
you’re right! The content now on the Smiths School of English, English and Japanese web sites has really expanded recently. I agree that there is lots of great hints, advice and lesson plan information for teachers and students alike. I’m excited to see how much more we can develop the web sites in the near future.
