It’s been a month now since I’ve started teaching at my Smith’s English Conversation School in Katsura (スミス英会話 桂).
Over the January I’ve met all students and we had more time to know each other.
I was delighted by the warm reception they gave me. It was very nice to see their interest in the new teacher and eagerness to use English.
Also, during this time four new students joined my school.
So the best way to end a very successful first month was to organize a party.
We had some Swiss cheese, Czech salami and many types of Japanese beverage. Later on a married couple (both students) owning a curry restaurant in Kyoto brought delicious samples of their curry too. For me the winner was a chicken curry.
We had a great time and I was happy to see all students talking to each other and having an English conversations (英会話).
The party was a success and we are already discussing an out-of-class “get together” for March. Next time however, I’d like to try some local restaurant in Katsura (桂校).
Four new students! Wow! Well done! Your event sounds real nice! Keep up the great work!
Thank you Derek. The party was really good.
Well done, Tom! I lived in Katsura 6 years and recommend Honwaka (west exit). I’ll be doing an ohanami mid/late April in a special spot near Kyoto Gosho. How about 長岡京 and 桂 together?
Thanks for the tip Rick.
Ohanami together would be great. I’ll start asking students by the end of March.
Hey, Tom. Welcome and good luck!
