Osaka Station City : Grand Front Osaka Takes Form and Promises Grandeur !

You are here: Home / Blog / Osaka Station City : Grand Front Osaka Takes Form and Promises Grandeur !

Well, exactly a year and two months have passed since the opening of Osaka Station City and we’ve all had enough time to get used to it.

But blink and you’ll miss construction of the next iteration of marvelous developments in Kita Ward, The Grand Front Osaka, now scheduled to include another four massive buildings all interconnected above and below.

The first of these buildings will be interesting because it will physically attach itself to the main upper concourse level of Station City by way of an enormous walkway spanning over the streets below.  Expect it to be pretty cool.  Remember when we used to think Yodobashi Camera was a mega-monolith dominationg the entire are?   Ha Ha!  It is utterly diminutized by the surrounding constructions now!  It’s quite cute, actually!  I have heard talk YBC is to be rebuilt because of this but can’t yet confirm this.

This photo was taken from Station City JR Upper Concourse Level and the sheer massiveness of the project just begins to be evident.  Housed among the 170-or-so floors going up will be hundreds if not a thousand more shops and restaurants, mega-office space transforming Osaka into a world-class business center, condo developments, theaters and well-designed, ergonomic parks areas offering plenty of respite from all the excitement.

When it’s all done we can look forward to some peace since crowds will disperse over a much larger area.
