Okamoto is a great town!

You are here: Home / Blog / Okamoto is a great town!

Today, I wrote this blog to introduce Okamoto where my school is located. Okamoto is located on the Hankyu-Kobe line and it is the first stop by the express train from Kobe Sannomiya Station heading toward Osaka. Okamoto is a very fashionable town. There are “Konan University”, “Konan Women’s University” and “Kobe Pharmaceutical University” in Okamoto. Lots of students come to Okamoto so it is really kicking and really alive. There are lovely boutiques and cute sweets shops. You can eat delicious cake and chocolate. I will introduce you to some of them in this corner. First of all there is a restaurant named “California Cuisine Hana”. It takes only a one minute walk from my school. You can eat delicious lunch anytime between 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.You can enjoy California food and of course various kinds of California wine too. Next I’d like to tell you about a bakery named “KOLN” (“Cologne” in English). There are lots of kinds of bread in this shop and they are absolutely delicious. If you would like to buy some interior decor you should be able to find something to your liking at “SHISAM”. The web site is as follows. Please check it out. Okamoto is a really fashionable town. I do hope you’ll come to Okamoto soon!

To see some pictures of these places and read this article in Japanese, click on the following link! You can also click on links there to the sites featuring the shops I mentioned.  Enjoy!

    Al,

Thank you for posting this article and Monthly Tuition System, which were both translated into English for you by a student of mine and then corrected by you. It’s great study for my student and seeing you post her translations really makes her happy. Thank you so much! As you now, her sister, another one of my students, translates my English postings on the Smith’s Soapbox into Japanese for me. We really are lucky to have such kind Smith’s students!

Regarding Okamoto, I and my wife go there from time to time. We like it there. As you know, one of my students manages a restaurant there called Ryu Ryu. We’ve had dinner there a couple of times and I know you have eaten there several times and know my student. Thank you for your support.

I am looking forward to holding more joint school events with you.

    Hi Al
I used to teach in Okamoto in a previou life, and I must agree, it is a lovely town. I particularly recommend the croissants at KOLN, among the best I have tasted in Japan.

    Derek,

Thank you. Yes, we are lucky to have such good students. There effort to learn and improve is the most important reward we can get from being a teacher. When your student helps me to check my Japanese, I learn a lot from her and then she translates the Japanese to English and I check it and embellish it. She learns a lot and I can use the translation to make an English post too. It is so cool! But her enthusiasm is what makes me the most happy! Such enthusiasm is better than any monitary gain you can get from teaching.

Let’s keep up the good work and have some nice joint events.

    John,

My wife and I also like Kawanishi very much. You have some nice department stores and shopping centers there. Let me know some good eateries when you have a chance.

    Best regards,
    Al

    Al,

You are welcome and thanks again. It’s great! You can improve your Japanese and my student can improve her English. It’s a win/win situation. Keep up the great work!
