For anyone living in Japan, October is a most-welcome arrival on the calendar, mostly because it spells the end of summer’s sweltering heat.
Here at Smith’s Nagaoakyo – スミス 英会話 長岡京 – it is particularly welcome; there is no finer season to walk around the city promoting our English conversation – 英会話 – schools and the benefits offered by professional teachers and a monthly fee – 月謝制 – system. If one happens to live in the vicinity of fields, the scent of harvested rice wafts through the air while everywhere you look, a deep, cobalt-blue sky hangs overhead.
Get out and enjoy it; before you know it, winter will be upon us!

100% This is my favorite season of the year in Japan. Mid-September to the end of October, the weather is fine, the temperature is perfect and for outdoor lovers it’s time to camp, hike, BBQ and so on. Love it!

Thanks, Ed. You must get some great vistas over Biwako this time of year. Enjoy!

Yep October in Kotoen is great too, just scamper up Kabuto-yama (Beetle Mountain!) the trail to which starts just a couple of hundred meters from my school. Nice getaway from the city.
