Smith’s School of English Japan is very proud to announce the opening  of a new Smith’s School location at Otsuka (スミス英会話 大塚), Tokyo. The school’s owner, Cecilia brings a wealth of knowledge to our system and has completed her orientation training at Smith’s head office. Cecilia is now ready and raring to go. We within the Smith’s English School group are all so very happy to have Cecilia aboard and look forward to working with her as she brings her own joy into the Smith’s Otsuka classrooms. We know Cecilia is going to enjoy supporting  the growth of  her students communicative confidence.

Well done Cecilia. Welcome to the T.E.A.M. We trust you enjoy your students as much as we all enjoy teaching ours. http://www.smithweb.co.jp/school/otsuka.shtml

    Hello everyone. Cecilia here.
Thank you all so much. It is assuring to know that I am now a part of a great TEAM. It would be a lie if I said I am not a bit nervous, but now I can see that everyone seems to be doing great, I feel encouraged. I will do my best not to let everyone down. My school will be open by October 13th, I need to be sure all the preparations are set. Then, off I go!

Looking forward to meeting you all soon.

    Hi Cecilia!

Welcome to the Smith’s family. I’ve been the owner/operator of SSE Miyakojima for the past 12 years. Over that time I’ve truly enjoyed the Smith’s experience and the help and support that head office provides. If it wasn’t for Smith’s I would not still be living in Japan and setting down roots. I’m sure you will experience the same thing. Good luck to you!

Cecilia welcome to TEAM Smith’s Tokyo area Last weekend on the way back from Nippori I happened to pass through Otsuka & without knowing you were opening a Smith’s School there I thought that it looked like a great location for a SSE as it’s on the busy Yamanote Line & close by the Marunochi & Todenarakawa Lines.
I’m sure you’ll love the freedom you have being your own boss

    Dear Cecilia:

This is Gordon Tippett, assistant teacher at Shijo/Karasuma Smith’s School of English in Kyoto. Welcome to Smith’s School of English as a school owner. I am sure you are excited and maybe a bit nervous about starting your very own franchise. But you have had the best of trainers and I am sure you are more than ready to tackle the job. Smith’s is a great place to work and they have an ample supply of material to use in the classroom. Gambatta.

    Hi Cecilia,

It’s Deana from the Azamino school here in Yokohama. Welcome to the Smith’s team!
Glad to have another member in the Kanto area, and it’s really nice to have another female school owner out here!

I heard from Mark you’re super excited and raring to get started. I remember that feeling when Mike and I opened in 2004. It’s a really great feeling, isn’t it?!
No need to be nervous, just keep that excitement and get out to the station as much as possible. That excitement is contagious, and you’ll see that people do pick up on it. Pretty soon you’ll have loads of trials and lots of excited new students who are also eager to be part of brand new school with you. Work hard, and enjoy it! Most of all, take advantage of all the support that head office offers. And don’t be afraid to contact Mark for a chat. He helped us a lot!

You are welcome to contact us as well. I’ll have head office fax over our contact info. Don’t hesitate! I’d love to get over to your place sometime and check it out. It’s a little harder right now, as I’d have to bring my two-year-old and Tokyo is a challenge with a toddler. However, you are welcome out here anytime! Consider it an open invitation.

    Best of luck,
    Deana, Mike, and Tyler

I would like to extend a belated welcome Cecilia as the newest member of the Smith’s School of English スミス英会話 family at her new school スミス英会話 大塚.

I sincerly wish you luck, and that you can be as fortunate as I have been in gathering around me a group of very special people (my students) who are now my dear friends. Their warmth and generosity have certainly made my time as a Smith’s franchisee/teacher worthwhile.

    Hi Cecilia!

Welcome to Smith! I’m really glad to hear that there will be another one of us in Tokyo. : )

I worked near Otsuka Station for about four years, so I’m pretty familiar with the area. I think you picked a good place. The demographics of the area should allow you to fill classes throughout the day.

I’m still a junior member here (since April 2009), but if I can be of help in any way please let me know.
