I became interested in photography during high school art classes. The art program was pretty good and the school facilities allowed us to develop our own black and white shots. Ever since school I have wanted to devote more time to improving my photography skills. This feeling has grown stronger since moving to live in Japan, as there are so many wonderful places and things to see and visit. I especially enjoy spending time in the parks close to my English conversation Schools, accessible from Sakai Higashi(南海線堺東駅), Mikunigaoka(南海線三国ヶ丘駅) and Nakamozu Stations(南海線三国ヶ丘駅, 南海中百舌鳥駅).
With the recent arrival of my baby daughter, what better time to upgrade my old digital camera to a newer model. When spending money on electrical equipment such as computers and cameras I always try to get good advice from someone with knowledge and with whom I trust. Luckily one of my English conversation students(英会話 月謝) from my Sakai Higashi School(スミス英会話 堺東校) is such a person. He is the owner of 4 camera stores and has been in the business ever since studying photography at University. He is a very knowledgeable person who was more than happy to answer all of my newbie questions.
I visited him in his store (which specialises in Nikon) a few times to chat (in English) about different cameras and lens’ and finally decided to go with his recommendation of a Nikon 3100 DSLR. It is a great entry level, digital SLR. One of the great things about this camera is the setting which teaches you how to prepare the camera for more difficult shots. Basically like a built in “how to” manual. I find it very useful.
I know there are a handful of my students who are actively interested in photography and at least two other Smith’s School of English teachers who are also. I can’t recommend more highly the service my student provides in his store. If you wish to talk all things camera, go here ARS Camera or pay a visit to his store.
Tim.

Great choice of cameras…may I suggest getting a flash (the Nikon SB-400) and a good lens (depends on what you want – the Nikon 28-300VR is a nice one, as well as the Nikon 35mm f/1.8)
Your student’s camera shop website is awesome. I need to contact him about buying a lens for my old Canon… I think he has the lens I want. Thanks for the info.
