My lucky day

You are here: Home / Blog / My lucky day

Today a lot of students just happened to be carrying around a stash of candies. At three different times tonight, three different students approached me with chocolate offerings. I thought that this was an odd coincidence but a deliciously welcome one. It’s not every day at Smith’s School of English Kyobashi that I’m chased down with such sweet offerings.
Halfway through the night, in a neighboring classroom, another teacher was just finishing up with her lesson a few moments after mine. I was walking by her classroom just as one student was mentioning her day trip to USJ. Upon noticing my presence, the student called me into the classroom to show me a large bag of Spiderman chocolates that she had bought as souvenirs. She gave me one to cure my constant sugar cravings, and then proceeded to hand them out to other teachers in the nearby vicinity. I was quite happy to munch on my chocolate before the next class, having quite an energy kick to get me through the hour. It might have had something to do with the sugar, or maybe it was because Spiderman himself had endorsed the sweet crunchy morsel.
At the end of the next class, two more students came into my classroom to give me more chocolates. But this time their intent was more specific because they wished me a “Happy Valentine’s Day!” as well. One girl gave me a really cute bumblebee chocolate, and the other passed me a very large cluster of chocolate covered peanuts. I know that I really should have saved them until after dinner but I didn’t want to risk them melting so I quickly ate the entire handful.
And just when I thought that my day couldn’t possibly get any better, one of the staff ladies just came around as I was writing this to give me a hand drawn Pon de Lion – full colored! It must be my lucky day or something to receive so many wonderful presents in such a short span of time. After having a positive karma-infused day at Smith’s, perhaps I should go play the lottery. I feel that lucky!
