Last weekend I took a break from teaching English at Smith’s School of English Sakai Higashi and Nakamozu, and made a trip with my family to Shirahama(白浜), Wakayama prefecture. From out of the ordinary scene of Sakai City(堺市) to the white sandy beach of Shirahama in just 2 hours.
We spent the better part of 3 days and 2 nights staying at the Coganoi Bay Hotel (コガノイベイホテル) . Our room boasted a fantastic ocean view, and the hotel’s facilities were very nice. We divided our time between the beach of Shirarahama and the hotel’s large outdoor pool. I found the early morning swims (to escape the crowds of visiting day trippers) in the ocean most enjoyable.
I feel being part of the fantastic Smith’s School of English TEAM allows the teacher/owners to really utilize their opportunity in Japan. Only one month in the entire calendar year is without national holidays or a public holiday. Meaning practically every month the Smith’s teachers can reward their hard work with a day trip or long weekend exploring Japan. Most if not all of the franchise owners are in Japan for the long haul. I think this is testament to how we all feel about our jobs and the lifestyle within our franchise system. For this reason, you will not find a more dedicated teacher than a Smith’s franchise owner. My life is certainly now firmly rooted in Japan with my family and business here, and I couldn’t be happier.

Too right mate.
I think most of us spend a lot of time thinking how lucky we are.
Good to see you (and the haircut) at the seminar.
