Mastery

You are here: Home / English School Articles / Mastery

mastery  I made a recording about one technique for mastering certain skills.  I  would like to try adding it here.  I will rewrite this article if the audio doesn’t work.

Well, it looks like adding audio didn’t work so here is the transcription

English is like playing the piano, its a skill, and if you want to improve the skill, there’s only one way to improve skills… that’s to practice, practice, practice.
Think of these sentences on the board, these model sentences, as chords.  Of course, if you want to play the guitar, or the piano, you have to master the chords to play them without thinking.  So  these chords will help you speak English better… and there’s lots of chords and there’s lots of sentences, ok, how can you master the chord?  One fellow, he asked his instructor exactly that for the guitar, and the instructor had a simple answer… he said, “go home, practice the chords ten times everyday for a week.”  The man did that, and on the first day it was very difficult, but on the seventh day it was very boring.

And he had mastered it so much so that after twenty years he could still plasy the chord without thinking.

So your task is to take these sentences and say a different sentence ten times

so you say ten different sentences on day one,

and ten different sentences on day two,

on day one its going to be very hard.

I recommend  you don’t write it… think it and say it but if you need to on day one you can write it and then you can say it…

By day ten day seven pardon me, you should be able to just say it and you might not know what to say because you’ll have about seventy sentences and that will stretch your English too because you have to think of new things..
