Long time no see!

You are here: Home / Blog / Long time no see!

I hadn’t seen my 1pm student at Kyobashi school for ages as she took a leave for a few months and it is always nice to see students coming back, she was apparently also very happy to be back here at Smith’s School of English and I was glad to see she was in a rather chatty mood. The conversation about holidays just went on naturally for about 10 minutes before we started our routine lesson.

E.T. A.3.15

” I am broke”. We both giggled when I put this on the board. Well, after the January shopping frenzy, it’s no surprise that we both had an empty purse now…

Item

As this was a green level student, I prepared a news event item talking about crop circles. We spent about 10 minutes on the article, working through the new vocabulary and more complicated sentences. Once I was sure that the student had comprehended the article, I moved on to the question part. She had little trouble with the 10 questions regarding the article, so we ended up discussing the extra topics on aliens and UFOs.

Routine

I planned on reviewing routine 9 and hopefully getting the student to use the 10 questions out of context, but after a rather heated discussion in the item section, I only had about 10 minutes left for this part. So I decided to cut it short and just review the story. This worked out pretty well as it had been a long time since the student last did routine 9 and she could hardly remember what the story was about.

One-point

We finished our class with a one-point “I am heading over to…”. After explaining it and giving an example, I asked my student where she was heading after class, ” I am heading over to Keihan Mall,” she giggled and added quickly,” for window shopping!”
