I am, as you all know, a firm supporter of the Smith’s School of English Curriculum. I do however, as I guess all teachers do, have my favourite parts of the curriculum. One of which is the Let’s Talk Conversation Course which is a wonderful practical way to keep a tab on the progress of our success at performing our daily task of being Coaches of Communicative Confidence. The topics are graded and re-inforce the use and importance of “WH” Questions – What, What type of, When, Who, Which, Where, How etc. I have found that they help the students in many positive ways. They not only help them to answer and to ask questions (a major requirement of English communication) but also add to their vocabulary building. For those of you who have not used them I suggest that you give them ago as your students will enjoy them and they will undoubtedly become more confident. It certainly is another good reason why it’s fantastic owning a Smith’s School of English franchise. Simply put, the lesson plans are already in place and they provide consistency across the Smith Franchise System and you can be absolutely certain that if for some reason you are unable to teach then whoever relieves you will be able to work with your students without interrupting their progress and more importantly dampening their confidence.
