Pretty soon the festival season will be upon us once again, and as many of you probably know, my wife Yoko and I are dedicated summer festival revelers, especially favoring those with fireworks. All we are waiting for is an end to rainy season!
By the end of June, the expected weather-permitting dates for most of the core festivals in Kansai will be set, and as usual I will be publishing an itinerary here. English Conversation students at the Smith’s School of English in Kotoen スミス英会話 甲東園 are expecting this list soon. We are anticipating no cancelations this summer and as a result the list of festivals is likely to be long. We will focus on Hyogo, Kyoto, Osaka and Shiga Prefectures but will probably also include a few from Fukui Prefecture as well. Every year our personal favorite seems to be the Aug 16 Tsuruga Tohronagashi Festival and although we are most definitely open to having that exalted title challenged, we do expect that to happen again this year. We will therefore be including a number of worthwhile dates for Fukui Prefecture.
Stay tuned shortly !
