My wife Akemi and I bought an Apple iPad (the first in the series) last year for me to use for my work teaching English in Japan. I use it for work, such as writing here on the Soap Box and for work-related things such as using it to play music at Osaka Castle Park on the day of this year’s Smith’s hanami event at Osaka Castle Park. One person who is having a ball using it is our daughter Tina (now 2 years old). Akemi downloads free games for kids that are cute and fun. Recently she has found some that are not only cute and fun, but educational too. Tina enjoys playing them whenever she has access to the iPad. Akemi has downloaded some Baby TV programs (not free) which Tina can enjoy anywhere. When we bought it, we never thought we would one day use it with Tina! It’s great! I’m glad that we got it!
We usually take the iPad with us when we go out somewhere together. It gives Tina something to do when Akemi and I want to stay seated somewhere for a while. In the photo, you can see her playing a game on the iPad at a Starbucks Coffee in ACTA, a shopping mall in Nishinomiya, Hyogo Prefecture last Sunday when I was off from my job teaching English in Tsukaguchi, Amagasaki, Hyogo Prefecture to terrific students. What a great learning tool. Our son likes the piano player which he played on my cousin’s ipad- great music making fun. Not sure exactly which app it is but I’m sure you can find it. Tina is such a clever little girl too!
