I believe that being unfit can eventually lead to health problems that can make everything else in your life difficult to enjoy. That is why I consider exercise very important and make it a part of my weekly routine while living and teaching English in Japan.
I’ve earlier written about the importance of exercise or me going to a private fitness club called TIPNESS near my English conversation school （英会話）, Smith’s School of English Tsukaguchi（スミス英会話塚口校） in Tsukaguchi（塚口）, Amagasaki City（尼崎市）, Hyogo Prefecture（兵庫県）, Japan. The posts were:
2. Exercising at a Fitness Club in Japan
3. A Nice Surprise at My Fitness Club
Interestingly, it looks like my posts have influenced some people in a positive way. John, a fellow Smith’ s teacher, joined GUNZE SPORTS CLUB in Kawanishi City, Hyogo Prefecture where his school, Smith’s School of English Kawanishi, is also located. He mentioned my having something to do with that. One of my students from Smith’s School of English Tsukaguchi joined TIPNESS in Tsukaguchi this week and another one of my students will be joining the same fitness club sometime this month. Wow! That’s great!
The student who hasn’t joined yet checked my fitness club out last month and was shown around the place by a female staff member. The woman apparently asked my student who had told her about TIPNESS. My student answered that her English teacher had. The woman then asked her if her teacher was a Smith’s teacher, tall and skinny. My student was surprised and answered “yes”. (^.^)Later on that day, she let me know about this by email, mentioning that I was famous for being a Smith’s teacher from wearing my Smith’s t-shirt. I was happy to hear that this student, a recently retired office worker and longtime student of mine, had visited my fitness club and was thinking about joining it. It is never too late to start exercising! Good for her! I was also happy to hear that the staff member at TIPNESS knew that I was a Smith’s School of English teacher. Great! (^.^)
I am glad to have been able to influence John and my 2 students positively. I applaud them all for making the decision to join a fitness club and keep healthy, and wish them all the best of luck in reaching their own personal fitness goals.
