When we bought our school in December of last year, it was being run by 1 teacher as a 1 room school. At that time, the school was divided in half by the white boards and their were tables and chairs on both sides, however for practical use it was not set-up properly. In particular, when 2 classes were running simultaneously the noise was too much and students had a hard time hearing each other. But we remedied that problem and have been running a very nice, quiet, and successful 2 teacher, 2 room school for the past 6 months.
We hired a nice local carpenter to come in and build a steel stud wall to provide a quieter and more private atmosphere for our students to study in. We installed our whiteboards on either side of the wall, which actually takes up less space than having them on their stands (which roll and have legs that stick out quite a bit). All said it was not too expensive and the results are wonderful: more professional rooms yet still open and comfortable. Thinking of expanding your school? Partitions or fully built walls add professionalism and quiet and allow for multiple classes in a small area (thus minimizing overhead)! Caring for your students is a key to their success, and having a comfortable, quiet area in which to study is one more way to show your care for them. Good luck!
