How Does It Work?

Since the communicative method is geared to each learner, the experience and techniques used will vary, but such learning is invariably exciting and full of possibility. Any activity that involves authentic communication may be used. Practicality is stressed. Activities can include one-to-one or small group interaction involving discussion and negotiation, practicing language through role-playing, learning by teaching others, games, dialogues, collaboration, and immersion. Continual interaction between the instructor and the learner or learner-to-learner is fundamental to the communicative approach.
